Lattimo: Opaque white or colored glass. Sometimes referred to as 'Milk Glass'. This type of glass is very similar to porcelain.
Millefiori: "A thousand flowers" deriving from 'mille' meaning a thousand and 'fiori' meaning flowers. Millefiori is Lattimo glass decorated with murrine and often encased in a layer of clear or tinted glass. One of the oldest techniques that is still very popular today.
Murrine: colored patterns or images made in a glass cane (long rods of glass) that are revealed when cut in cross-sections. A murrine rod is heated in a furnace, pulled until thin while still maintaining the cross section's design, and then cut into beads or discs when cooled.
